Bitzer

A supermarket rack running four to eight compressors in parallel rarely fails all at once, but when one Bitzer unit goes down, the rest of the rack is often only a valve plate replacement away from the same fate. CAP HVAC supplies OEM-quality aftermarket Bitzer compressor parts for the Ecoline GE, FE, HE and JE series, along with the earlier Octagon “.2” generation. Our inventory covers the wearing components that keep supermarket racks, cold storage systems and process chillers running: valve plates, gasket kits, pistons and rings, connecting rods, bearings, oil pumps, capacity control components and more.

Every Bitzer spare part is manufactured to original equipment specifications and dimensional tolerances, backed by more than 40 years of compressor remanufacturing experience. Parts ship from our warehouse in Cleveland, Ohio to contractors, wholesalers and end users across the United States, Canada, Latin America, the UK and Europe.

About Bitzer Compressors

Bitzer is one of the world’s largest independent manufacturers of refrigeration compressors. Founded in Germany in 1934, the company built its reputation on semi-hermetic reciprocating compressors now found in commercial refrigeration systems on every continent. Bitzer compressors are the standard choice for supermarket parallel rack systems, walk-in coolers and freezers, cold storage warehouses, food processing plants, marine refrigeration and industrial process cooling.

Bitzer’s semi-hermetic reciprocating line has evolved through several generations, but the frame sizes have remained consistent. That continuity benefits equipment owners: a compressor installed in the early 2000s and a current Ecoline model often share the same crankcase, cylinder dimensions and service parts, so a single, well-stocked Bitzer parts source can support an entire fleet regardless of age.

Bitzer Compressor Generations We Support

Bitzer Octagon “.2” Series (Legacy)

Introduced in the late 1990s and identified by the “.2” in the model number (for example 4G-30.2Y, 6F-50.2Y, 4H-15.2Y), the Octagon series takes its name from the eight-sided crankcase profile. These compressors were sold in large volumes for R22, R404A and R134a systems and remain in service throughout North America and Europe. Many are now 15 to 25 years old and at the point where valve plates, gaskets, pistons and bearings are due for replacement. CAP HVAC stocks parts for the full range of Octagon .2 models.

Bitzer Ecoline Series (Current)

Launched in 2013, the Ecoline series is identified by the letter “E” in the model number (4GE-30Y, 6FE-50Y, 4HE-25Y). Ecoline compressors use the same frame sizes as the Octagon .2 series, with redesigned valve plates, pistons and motors for higher efficiency and approval for lower-GWP refrigerants such as R448A, R449A, R450A and R513A. Because Ecoline retained the footprint and connections of the .2 generation, many service parts are shared across both, and Ecoline compressors are often installed as direct replacements in older racks.

Bitzer Ecoline+ Series

Ecoline+ models pair the Ecoline mechanical design with a line-start permanent-magnet motor for improved part-load performance. The compression components, including valve plates, pistons, rings, rods, bearings and gaskets, are common with standard Ecoline models, so the same CAP HVAC Bitzer compressor parts apply.

How to Read a Bitzer Model Number

Using 4GE-30Y as an example:

  • 4 – number of cylinders (2, 4, 6 or 8)
  • G – frame size; for the large frames, size increases in the order
  • J to H to G to F
  • E – Ecoline generation (Octagon models carry “.2” after the motor number instead)
  • 30 – nominal motor size, roughly equivalent to horsepower
  • Y – ester (POE) oil charge for HFC and HFO refrigerants

A 4G-30.2Y and a 4GE-30Y are the same frame and the same displacement; one is Octagon, one is Ecoline. When ordering parts, always provide the complete model number from the compressor nameplate, including the generation and suffix letters.

Bitzer Model Families Covered

JE Series (4JE, 6JE)

Models include 4JE-13Y, 4JE-15Y, 6JE-22Y, 6JE-25Y, and legacy 4J-13.2Y, 4J-22.2Y, 6J-22.2Y, 6J-33.2Y. The J frame is the smallest of Bitzer’s large-frame series, with four-cylinder displacements of roughly 40 to 50 m³/h and six-cylinder models around 60 to 75 m³/h (50 Hz). JE compressors are common on medium-temperature supermarket racks, walk-in coolers and small cold storage systems. CAP HVAC supplies JE-series valve plates, gasket sets, pistons, rings, connecting rods, oil pumps and capacity control components.

HE Series (4HE, 6HE)

Models include 4HE-15Y, 4HE-18Y, 4HE-25Y, 6HE-25Y, 6HE-28Y, 6HE-35Y, and legacy 4H-15.2Y, 4H-25.2Y, 6H-25.2Y, 6H-35.2Y. The H frame steps up in bore and displacement, roughly 50 to 60 m³/h in four-cylinder and 75 to 90 m³/h in six-cylinder form. HE compressors serve both medium- and low-temperature duty on parallel racks and are frequently fitted with capacity-control cylinder heads. We stock the full wearing-parts range for HE models, including CR head components and low-temperature liquid-injection (CIC) heads.

GE Series (4GE, 6GE, 8GE)

Models include 4GE-20Y, 4GE-23Y, 4GE-30Y, 6GE-30Y, 6GE-34Y, 6GE-40Y, 8GE-50Y, 8GE-60Y, and legacy 4G-20.2Y, 4G-30.2Y, 6G-30.2Y, 6G-40.2Y, 8GC-50.2Y, 8GC-60.2Y. The G frame is one of the most widely installed Bitzer compressors in North America. Four-cylinder models cover roughly 60 to 75 m³/h, six-cylinder models roughly 90 to 110 m³/h, and the eight-cylinder 8GE extends into industrial capacities. GE compressors are found on large supermarket racks, distribution-center refrigeration, process chillers and ice rinks. Because of the size of the installed base, GE valve plates, gasket kits, pistons and oil pumps are among our fastest-moving Bitzer parts.

FE Series (4FE, 6FE, 8FE)

Models include 4FE-25Y, 4FE-28Y, 4FE-35Y, 6FE-40Y, 6FE-44Y, 6FE-50Y, 8FE-60Y, 8FE-70Y, and legacy 6F-40.2Y, 6F-50.2Y, 8FC-60.2Y, 8FC-70.2Y. The F frame is the largest reciprocating frame in the Bitzer range. Six-cylinder FE models run to approximately 150 m³/h and eight-cylinder models beyond 200 m³/h, placing them in industrial cold storage, large chillers, food processing and blast-freezing applications. FE compressors carry the highest-value service parts in the lineup, including crankshafts, connecting rods, cylinder heads and complete gasket kits, and CAP HVAC maintains stock to support planned rebuilds and emergency repairs.

Why Buy Bitzer Compressor Parts From CAP HVAC

Every part we supply is manufactured to original equipment dimensions, materials and tolerances, and is fully interchangeable with the factory component. Parts ship from Cleveland, Ohio, and since a down supermarket rack compressor means spoiled product costs more than any part, we prioritize same-day and next-day shipping on stocked items. Pricing reflects aftermarket sourcing without OEM markup, with volume pricing available for contractors, wholesalers and remanufacturers.

Our team brings more than 40 years of hands-on experience in compressor remanufacturing and can help with part identification, cross-references between Octagon and Ecoline models, and rebuild guidance. Alongside Bitzer, we supply parts for Carrier and Carlyle, Copeland, Vilter, York, Mycom, Sabroe and Grasso compressors, so mixed-brand fleets can be supported from a single source.

Applications for Bitzer Semi-Hermetic Compressors

Bitzer reciprocating compressors are engineered for demanding commercial and industrial refrigeration duty, including:

  • Supermarket and convenience-store parallel rack systems
  • Walk-in coolers and freezers
  • Cold storage and distribution warehouses
  • Food and beverage processing, blast freezing and IQF lines
  • Process and comfort chillers
  • Marine refrigeration and provision cooling
  • Ice rinks and industrial process cooling
  • Pharmaceutical and laboratory cold chain

Because rack systems typically run four to eight identical compressors in parallel, a single site often needs the same valve plates, gaskets and pistons in multiples. CAP HVAC supports fleet-wide maintenance programs as well as single-unit repairs.

How to Identify Your Bitzer Compressor and Order the Right Part

  1. Locate the nameplate on the side of the compressor crankcase. It lists the model number, serial number, refrigerant and voltage.
  2. Record the full model number, including cylinder count, frame letter, generation (E or .2), motor number and suffix (Y, P, K). Example: 6GE-34Y or 6G-30.2Y.
  3. Identify the part you need, such as a valve plate, gasket, piston or oil pump, and note whether the compressor has capacity control or liquid injection cylinder heads.
  4. Contact us by phone or email with the model number and part description. We’ll confirm the correct part, cross-reference Octagon-to-Ecoline equivalents where applicable, and quote pricing and lead time.

FAQs

1. Are CAP HVAC Bitzer parts genuine Bitzer parts?

No. CAP HVAC is an independent aftermarket supplier. Our Bitzer compressor parts are manufactured to OEM specifications and dimensions and are fully interchangeable with the factory components, but they are not produced by or affiliated with Bitzer.

2. Do Octagon .2 and Ecoline compressors use the same parts?

Many components are shared because the frames are common, but valve plates and some cylinder head parts changed with the Ecoline redesign. Always provide the complete model number so we can confirm compatibility.

3. What is the difference between 4GE-23Y and 4GE-30Y?

Both are the same four-cylinder G frame with the same displacement. The number indicates a different nominal motor size, chosen based on refrigerant and operating conditions. Compression parts are interchangeable; motor and electrical parts are not.

4. What does the “Y” mean on a Bitzer model number?

“Y” indicates the compressor is charged with polyolester (POE) oil for use with HFC and HFO refrigerants. Models without the Y were originally supplied with mineral oil for R22.

5. What Bitzer valve plate options do you carry?

We stock valve plates and complete valve plate kits, including suction and discharge reeds, springs, retainers and gaskets, across the JE, HE, GE and FE series as well as legacy Octagon .2 models.

6. Can you supply a complete Bitzer rebuild kit?

Yes. Provide the model number and we will assemble a kit including gaskets, valve plates, rings, bearings and any other components required for a full overhaul.

7. How do I find the right Bitzer spare part for my compressor?

Record the complete model number from the compressor nameplate, including cylinder count, frame letter, generation and suffix, and contact us with that number and a description of the part. We’ll confirm the correct match before quoting.

8. What’s the typical lead time on Bitzer parts?

Stocked items ship same-day or next-day from our Cleveland, Ohio warehouse. Lead times on non-stock or special-order parts are confirmed at the time of quote.
